2/25/14

The one thing that I learned this week in COMM 160 was all about writing leads for news stories. I learned that the lead is not like a headline and it has to be a complete sentence. I also learned that the lead needs to be interesting, informative and, most importantly, draw in the attention of readers. If the lead of a story has no potential to grab the attention of a reader then it is most likely not a good lead.

2/11/14

One thing that I learned this week in COMM 160 was how to use who or whom. I learned that if you replace who or whom with he or him you can easily tell which one to choose. For example, if you use he and the sentence makes sense then the word you are looking for is who. On the other hand, if you replace who or whom with him and the sentence makes sense then the word is whom.

2/4/14

The one thing I learned for this week was about anticedents and pronoun agreement. I learned that if these two things do not agree then it makes for a very interesting and sometimes funny sentence. Also, I learned that sentences will not make sense if the pronoun used is vague. You can correct vague pronouns by replacing it with a noun, adding a noun after this, adding a noun before which or combining the statements together.
